Indian institute of Technology Gandhinagar is seeking applications for postdoctoral positions in Cognitive Science. Candidates of any nationality with a PhD degree (‘all but defense’ are eligible) in any discipline related to Cognitive Science can apply. We will also consider applications of exceptionally meritorious candidates who would like to switch their focus of research from another discipline into Cognitive Science.
IIT Gandhinagar started the Cognitive Science program to foster and sustain academic endeavors in Cognitive Science and resonates with the national interest in the same. The Ph.D. program in Cognitive Science started in fall 2009 and a two year MSc program in Cognitive Science is planned from Fall, 2013.
The program is spearheaded by a group of faculty members working in the area of Cognitive Psychology, Engineering, Computer Science, and Philosophy. Current active research areas of the cognitive science group include broad areas in Visual Attention, Consciousness, Experience, Rationality, Learning, Decision making, Consumer behaviour, Brain Imaging, Human Computer/Robot Interaction, and Affective computing.
Research facilities are being setup at a rapid pace for behavioural, eye tracking, EEG ERP, and electrophysiological equipment and relevant softwares. Incumbents will experience a startup-like environment and expert mentoring. Postdoctoral Fellows will be supported to start their own research and exceptional candidates could be considered for contractual teaching positions also. Initial appointment will be for a period of one year, and extendable to another two years.
